COURTYARD HOUSE
Responding to a dense suburban context and the demands of a harsh climate, this residence is conceived as an inward-facing sanctuary.
The design cultivates its own internal landscape by carving out two large courtyards from a protective, elemental mass. These voids are not merely negative space that redefine the perimeter, but are focal points that activate the home’s daily rhythm.
One courtyard embraces the morning sun while the other captures the late afternoon light, ensuring that all living areas are animated by natural illumination.
In warmer months, the boundary between inside and out dissolve as sliding glass doors open onto private outdoor spaces for living, entertaining, and play.
